Lewis Reece Baratz, harpsichordist, studied with David Fuller and Larry Palmer, harpsichord and forte-piano with Gwendolyn Toth, and recorder with David Hart and Eva Legene. A Fulbright Scholar and Fellow of the
Belgian-American Educational Foundation, he holds a Ph.D. in musicology from Case Western Reserve University, where he specialized in the music tradition of 17th and 18th century Brussels, writing extensively on
composers Petrus Brehy, Joseph Hector Fiocco, and Charles Joseph van Helmont amonst others. He has written articles for the New Grove Dictionary of Music, MGG, Fontes Artis Musicae, Oude Muziek, Historical
Performance, American Recorder, Early Keyboard Journal, Diapason, and Archives and Musicology. Lewis directs Ensemble La Fiocco.
